Welcome to Laterally Creative
“One of the chief motives of artistic creation is certainly the need of feeling that we are essential in relationship to the world” (Sartre, 1948)
Creativity is universal. When applied in an aesthetic way, culture regards this as artistic expression. This century is experiencing creativity and technologies blurring into mediated writings, artworks and performances. There is a common denominator; the desire to tell our stories, and in doing so, connect and share our ideas and the signatures of our identity. Culture is both dynamic in its expression, and continuous in its evolution. At the core of this menagerie of intertextuality, the wisdom of our elders repeats and prevails in the themes and narratives of our stories regardless of form. No matter what we believe or perceive of one another, we all share a common desire for peace. Let our stories reflect that ambition for peace because "every story changes culture." (P.D. Casely-Hayford, 2008).
